–Summer Office Hours
Starting the week of June 8th, parish staff will have limited public office hours as we undertake some summer projects and planning. Office hours will be from 10am to 3pm, Monday through Thursday. Outside of those hours, we may not be available to answer the phone or the door. You are welcome to leave a message or set up an appointment by phone or email. Sacred Heart in-person meetings continue to be by appointment only. The offices will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.

–Peter’s Pence Collection Next Weekend
Next week we will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection to support the Universal Church and the work of the Holy See, including the charitable works of Pope Leo XIV. These works benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression, and disasters. Be a sign of hope with your generosity. June Issue
Prepared by Brigid McMahan, Director of Finance

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Fatima, and St. Anne Parishioners,

I hope that by the time you are reading this we’ll be celebrating a USA win over Australia in the World Cup!

As I write this I am trying to catch my breath after an intense budget development season and all the summer projects that have been popping up like weeds around me. A mentor recently told me to reflect on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, in particular “fear of the Lord” and how an interpretation of it can be giving all of one’s fears and worries to the Lord to carry on our behalf. So that is my game plan right now – letting God take on the worries around the parish family budget. I’ll be honest – as someone who likes budgets to be neat and tidy it does make me nervous to not keep trying to force the square peg into the round hole. As a result we will have two of the three parishes going into next fiscal year with a planned deficit.

I will be sharing more details in the parish annual report that is published in the fall. As a preview of that I wanted to share some updates and context.

We have been reviewing our data to try and deduplicate parishioners so you don’t receive two or three mailings. This has also helped us recognize folks who might not have been participating in the life of the parish family since Covid or before. Having this cleaner data will help us strategically approach our ministry and outreach programming moving forward.

This will be especially important as we look also to the income portion of our balance sheet. The past few years we have been operating on very lean budgets, continuously finding ways to reduce costs. There is very little fat to be trimmed; as such we will be exploring a different approach with next year’s budget. We will be handing our worries and fears to the Lord and pouring more into our ministries and programming. Hoping that we can better serve our parish family parishioners, and trusting that if we can bring in more people to be engaged with the Gospel, our budget deficits will close and our community will flourish.

As always thanks for all your trust and support.

Take care,

Brigid

In this week’s focus on the encyclical from Pope Leo XIV, we offer you resources that we found useful and informative. First, is the linked infographic. It is the second in a series of five that offers a visual breakdown of the encyclical’s main points.

Second, we have linked a video from Fr. Gregory Pine, O.P., which walks through the entire encyclical chapter by chapter, unpacking its major themes, from Catholic Social Teaching and human dignity to the moral, spiritual, and cultural challenges of emerging technology.

Third, we recommend the podcast, the Faith & AI Project. It was founded in 2025 by Digital Continent to help Catholics understand, navigate, and harness AI with wisdom, confidence, and hope. Explore episodes here.

THANK YOU to all who have contributed to the 2026 Annual Catholic Appeal. Your gift helps not only our parishes but the Catholic Church across Western Washington. Here is the status for our three parishes. IT’S NOT TOO LATE AND IT’S EASY TO DONATE!! Go to this link. Learn about our parish family rebate projects here.

A very big thank you to the Our Lady of Fatima community—we are only a few thousand dollars away from reaching our ACA goal of $86,645! The current total is $81,895.

–St. Anne
A very big thank you to the St. Anne community—we are making steady progress but still need more help to make our goal of $82,861. If you have not yet given, please prayerfully consider it. Any amount is appreciated. The current total is $42,852.
