**There will not be an ASL Interpreter this week at 10 AM Mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus.
–Rest in Peace
We pray for Eric Hasenkamp, whose funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 11 AM at Our Lady of Fatima. We also pray for John Pearson, a St. Anne parishioner who died last month.
–Summer Office Hours
Starting the week of June 8th, parish staff will have limited public office hours as we undertake some summer projects and planning. Office hours will be from 10am to 3pm, Monday through Thursday. Outside of those hours, we may not be available to answer the phone or the door. You are welcome to leave a message or set up an appointment by phone or email. Sacred Heart in-person meetings continue to be by appointment only. On Thursday, June 18th, parish staff will be on site for Vacation Bible School in the morning but will be unavailable in the afternoon in order to celebrate Fr. Freitag’s 30th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. The offices will be closed on Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.
On June 8, our pastor will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood! If you would like to send Fr. Freitag a message of congratulations, we have set up an online form. In lieu of gifts, there is also a fund set up through the form to make donations in his honor, which will go towards clergy vestments for the parish family. (Please note that this is separate from the suggested ACA rebate projects around liturgy items.)
We will recognize this achievement with refreshments after the following Masses:
Saturday, June 6 at 5pm at Our Lady of Fatima
Sunday, June 7 at 10am at Sacred Heart of Jesus
Saturday, June 14 at 11am at St. Anne
In this week’s focus on the encyclical from Pope Leo XIV, we offer you resources that we found useful and informative. First, is the linked infographic. It is the first in a series of five that offers a visual breakdown of the encyclical’s main points.
Second, we have linked a video from Fr. Gregory Pine, O.P., which walks through the entire encyclical chapter by chapter, unpacking its major themes, from Catholic Social Teaching and human dignity to the moral, spiritual, and cultural challenges of emerging technology.
Third, we recommend the podcast, the Faith & AI Project. It was founded in 2025 by Digital Continent to help Catholics understand, navigate, and harness AI with wisdom, confidence, and hope. Explore episodes here.
–Volunteer Appreciation!
Thank you to all who came to the St. Anne and Sacred Heart of Jesus volunteer appreciation events. There is one more tomorrow evening at Our Lady of Fatima after the 5pm vigil Mass. We invite all volunteers to join us for light refreshments.

–St. Vincent de Paul Society–Update from the St. Anne Conference
Your Generosity Provides Mobility. One of our neighbors was having difficulty with his mobility scooter. He was unable to trust his scooter to make it to the nearby grocery store and back. Our Vincentian researched the problem for over a month and with the help of the neighbor’s case manager and the non-profit Bridge Disability Ministries, it was decided that new batteries would be the fix. When the new batteries were installed, the scooter was set to go to the grocery store. Later that evening the neighbor sent the following message. “I can go a lot further and faster. It’s terrific. Thanks so much.”
The need for assistance is greater than ever. Our balance of funds to help those in need is the lowest it’s been in years. In addition to our normal flow of requests, inquiries are now coming from all economic sectors including many affected by the Tech world / AI layoffs. We will continue to have a second collection at St. Anne on the first full weekend of the month. Thank you for your generosity and continued support.
–Thank you for Stuffing the Truck at Our Lady of Fatima
Under sunny skies, nearly 50 parishioners and community members filled the St. Vincent de Paul donation truck with gently used clothing, household goods, and other treasures. Your generosity has helped restock thrift store shelves, where sales support the many programs and services provided by the Seattle-King County Council of St. Vincent de Paul. Thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you again at our fall donation drive!
–St. Martin Meal Program–Call for Volunteers!
The spring/ summer schedule is well underway, and we thank all the volunteers for your unwavering support! The next date for the meal drop-off is Tuesday, June 23 from 4:30 to 5 pm in the Our Lady of Fatima parking lot.
Help us fill in some summer dates! We could use meals (10 “hearty protein” sandwiches plus extra snacks) on July 7, July 21, August 4, and August 18. Please contact Sue ([email protected]) or Teresa ([email protected]) if you can do any of these dates!
To all the students in our parish family celebrating the end of the school year this week and next, we wish you a fun summer. Thanks be to God for a wonderful year! Here are some photos from Our Lady of Fatima and St. Anne schools of field days, CYO track, and kindergarten graduation.
Have a blessed week!
